In 2014 the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) invited developers and community groups to submit proposals to develop this large amount of untapped renewables potential in Scotland. With over 100 notifications of interest received, it was a highly competitive bidding process. vento ludens was awarded all of the eighteen potential schemes that we competed for and is now in the process of conducting surveys and assessing each site. vento ludens looks forward to working with the FCS and contributing to the reduction of Scotland’s carbon emissions.

The National Forest Estate (NFE) land owned by the Scottish Ministers and managed by FCS – extends to 665,000 hectares and has the potential to make a significant contribution to Scotland’s renewable energy targets through hydro, wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation.
